Browser editing and collaboration

Edit in the browser. Save straight back to SharePoint.

Once a file is open, the whole job happens in the browser: write, review, comment and track changes, with every change saved to the same SharePoint file.

Before and after

The round trip, without the round trip

Without a browser editor, every edit is a download and an upload. With BoldDocServer, the file never leaves SharePoint.

Without browser editing
  1. Find the file
  2. Download a copy
  3. Edit in a desktop app
  4. Upload it again
  5. Sort out duplicate copies
With BoldDocServer
  1. Open it in SharePoint
  2. Edit in the browser
  3. Saved to the same file
Save back

Saved to the same file, every time

BoldDocServer writes changes back to the original file through WOPI, so there’s nothing to download, re-upload or merge.

SharePoint keeps the version history according to your library settings, so you can see who changed what and restore an earlier version.

  • No local copies to keep track of
  • Version history stays in SharePoint
  • SharePoint permissions apply as usual

Collaboration

Review a document together

Several people can work on the same document. Reviewers leave comments, reply in threads and mention colleagues, and authors accept or reject tracked changes.

  • Comments, replies and mentions
  • Track changes with accept and reject
  • Several people on one document

Collaboration capabilities vary by document type and release.
